Donkin Family Reunion

My brother Andy and his wife, Shiloh flew in from NYC last week for a week of festivities a la Donkin-style. We ate, went to Kartchner Caverns (which was cool), ate some more, sat around and talked and laughed, ate a bit more, went to a cabin in the white mountains, where we continued eating, laughing, eating, hiking, fly fishing, antiquing, eating, exploring, eating and eating. Oh, and we slept a bit, too. And ate. did I mention the food? It was good. And plentiful.

I am going to the gym in the morning because I just looked at all the pictures and I'm disgusted with my fatness. Nothing like a few hundred pictures of you stuffing your face to motivate you, huh?

Besides all the eating, and in addition to it, we had a great time. We rented a log cabin in a little town in eastern Arizona called Greer. It's just east of Show Low and Pinetop. It's actually called the village of Greer and is positively gorgeous and adorable all at the same time. Here is the view from the deck of the cabin.



There were cute little antique shops, decor shops, eateries and cabins all along the main street. Then the lodges and fishing ponds, river and hiking trails were everywhere. We saw deer in the meadow behind the cabin each night and the air was cool and crisp. It was wonderful. I had a hard time leaving it to come back to the desert. But alas!

We had a baby shower for Andy & Shiloh's baby boy due in October.

And we discovered that Duke is a water dog! Who knew?!
And so is Jim...
And Sophie, too.

The only one missing is Harry...

And Zack...

Don't worry, Zack. We're going to do it again when you get home.
