Oh, the joys of a small community...

It's nice. Don't get me wrong. But in our little town, there is a community carnival/ fair/ festival/ expo/ thingy every single Saturday and the girls are usually dancing at these things so we have to go to each and every one. Otherwise, we'd go the one(s) we want to and skip the rest. The kids love it, though, so I shouldn't complain. We actually had fun at this latest one because we stayed around and played a bit. Usually we're there for the performance and then off to whatever else we have planned that day.

Sophie was hilarious on the inflatable slide. She wanted to go on it with the big kids, but of course when she got all the way to the top she decided against it. She'd already held up a whole line of excited kids because she took so long to climb to the top, so there was no letting her back out. Eliza just grabbed her on her lap and went for it. You can see the kid who was in charge up there laughing while she screamed the whole way down. When she got to the bottom she just laid face down on the balloon kicking her legs and screaming. We drug her off the thing and she pouted and glared at me for about 2 minutes. We all just ignored it. When she wasn't getting the sympathy she obviously thought she deserved, she decided that was kind of fun and asked to go again...and again...and again.

I used to upload pictures to a website I had for our family, but that company is no more--so as soon as I figure out which online photo album service to use, I'll post some pics there and let you know.

Oh--funny kid quote: The other day, a concerned looking Caleb asked if this Sunday was going to be "quick Sunday". It took a minute or two to figure out he was referring to last week's fast sunday--which had affected him greatly because he was forced to eat cold cereal instead of pancakes/waffles/crepes or the like which is our usual Sunday morning breakfast. We all got a kick out of that one. I'm sure you can guess what we'll be calling fast sundays from now on in our family.
