Getting Ready to Leave:

It's a 24 hour drive from Tucson to Portland, so we leave around 5 pm on Friday evening and drive 24 straight hours to get there around 5 pm Saturday. That's why the kids are all in their pajamas. It's loads of fun. Actually we find this the best way to travel with 5 kids and a dog during the summer. We did it last year and it worked so well we did it again this year. It beats getting a motel and taking 2 or three days to get there. I do the night driving and Jim does the day shift. My ipod and some caffeine are all it takes to keep me up all night. I listen to comedy shows and audiobooks to keep me awake.
Anyhoo -- here are the kids in the early morning.

We took the portland tour of all the places we have lived and went to visit my grandma and grandpa Stucki. We had a nice visit with them and then we went to see some Donkin-side relatives. Of course, while we were in Portland we had to take a trip to the beach and the traditional tour of Tillamook Cheese Factory.

It was really fun to take my kids to places I have such great memories of in my own childhood. Then off to Cannon beach, of course.

We also went to the Washington County Fair while we were there. The kids rode a hang-glider type ride that looked like a lot of fun. Lydia wasn't so sure about it though:

We "peer pressured" her into it and she survived.
After spending a great week hanging out with Grandma & Grandpa Turner, we all headed to Idaho for the reunion. We had portraits done at the cabin we stayed at. You can see them here. I had a great big zit (figures!) right in the middle of my forehead for picture day. So a great big thank you goes out to Adobe for creating photoshop and our photographer for being so skilled with it.
We had a total blast hanging out with everyone. Lots of new nieces and nephews and in-laws. It was fun! We had a great day in Yellowstone sight-seeing and while I didn't get to see a moose, we did have a close encounter with a bison. Man those suckers are huge!

It is so gorgeous there!

Jim and his little brother, Ben. We have missed him so much!

Then there was hanging out by the lake, jet skis, rafting the river, roasting smores, hot tubbing, pool & foosball playing, dance-dance revolution tournaments and the Turnee's Awards at the end of the week. We won the "We put in our time and now we can drive all over and have fun cause we have no more babies!" award. And I think it was well deserved!
We had a great time!
p.s. Today is Jim & my 13th anniversary. So I dedicate this blog post to my honey-pie. Here's to another lucky 13!
