So, we were really lucky to get hubby's truck back. Now it's in the shop getting all fixed up. We had recently switched to Progressive Insurance. I'm sure they're thrilled to have us. But honestly, so far they've been great. So, I'll let you all know how it turns out, but for now I'm recommending them. We'll see.
As for the kids, they're doing great. Except Sophie, as usual. Just when I thought I had mastered (or at least survived) toddler-mommyhood I get a nightmare toddler. She's really cute (which has saved her young life more than once) but a total beast otherwise. I'm torn here, because I could really go on a comedic tirade about this child, but I'm afraid there are people out there (aka child-protective services) who will not think it so funny. But then again...they may take her (or ME!!!) away. Oh, please let it be me...please?
But I digress. Ever install a ceiling fan in a room that didn't have one before, only to find out that you should really dust more often? Seriously. Dust balls keep flying at me like some kind of twisted Hitchcock movie.
Okay, here's a little bit of advice for anyone out there who has, or will ever go shopping for a house. If you make an appointment to see someone's home---even if it's just for a little lookie-loo or to be snoopy (not the cartoon dog)--you had better damn-well either cancel or show up. Take it from me. We're talking about people's lives here! Do you hear me?!?! LIVES ARE AT STAKE!!!! Cause the rage that fills a homeowner's heart who has just cleaned for DAYS and whose client's are being ignored and whose children are being slave-driven and whose husband is being subjected to the honey-do list from hell, only to find out it was all for NOTHING!!!! Well, my friends, that is a rage you don't want to inflict on ANYONE. Although it might be a good trick to do to someone you really hate. No...no...too cruel even for your arch enemy. Just don't do it. Okay? Promise? Seriously. It's not nice.
Anyhoo... I'm homesick for trees right now. And flowers. I miss daffodils and tulips and little white roses and blossoms on cherry trees. I miss the smell of fresh cut grass. Soft air. Warm sun (as opposed to blistering hot sun). Water. Did I already mention trees?
Life in the desert is good, too. For one, there's a total lack of mud. That's a good thing. Never have to worry about muddy shoes or dog paws. Rain coats, boots and windshield wipers are not even necessities. Then, there's the views...You can see for miles without trees. The mountains and sunsets are truly majestic. From here we can drive to where there are trees. The other day, in fact, we were taking a drive up by where my mom and dad are building a house (to sell, in case anyone's interested) anyhoo... and a couple of blocks away there was this nice little street that had wonderful mature pine trees lining the driveways and landscaping. Actual pine trees. Real ones! It was neat. We were really excited to see them. We should have named them. They're not even our pine trees, but we were just so happy to see them--I will have to go back and name them. They will be our friends. Piney, Coney...no, something much more grand...I'm going to need suggestions. Help me out here people. I'm a pathetic Oregonian-Arizonan transplant who is falling in love with the only pine trees for 50 miles. It's truly sad.
Well, that's my Sunday night post...such as it is. I'll add more next week. Oh, by the way, I just finished decorating Sophia's room (yes, I decorated a room for the beast. It's self therapy.) It's really cute, if I do say so myself. I have the fabric for the window treatment, so that and the bedskirt are the only things still left to do in there.
